SETAᴾᴴᵀ, a leader in desalination technology, is participating in an independent water initiative at the Barka V seawater desalination plant, a 20-year BOO Concession project awarded to GS INIMA Environment, and whose final client is Oman Power and Water Procurement Company SAOC, being one of the largest desalination plants in Oman.

The current water situation in Oman has driven the need for innovative solutions to ensure access to high quality drinking water. This project stands as a key response to this challenge, promoting sustainability and water security in the region.

The scope of supply focuses on the design and manufacture of a skid desalination plant for the second step of reverse osmosis. This installation produces 100 m³/day of very low salinity water for industrial (non-potable) use. The treatment line includes the following state-of-the-art technology:

  • Feed pumping to the second reverse osmosis step (1×100%) controlled by frequency inverter.
  • 5 micron cartridge safety filtration (2 x 100%).
  • High pressure pumping to the second reverse osmosis step (1×100%) controlled by frequency inverter.
  • Reverse osmosis second pass membrane frame (2×100%).
  • Instrumentation and control panel
  • CIP cleaning system, consisting of:
    – 0.5 m3 CIP chemical cleaning tank.
    – CIP pumping (1×100%).
    – 5 micron cartridge safety filtration for chemical cleaning (1×100%).

The project is distinguished by its commitment to excellence, including materials, inspections and certified testing to ensure optimum performance of all associated equipment, fittings, piping and instrumentation.

The initiative marks a significant step towards sustainable drinking water provision in Oman and highlights SETAᴾᴴᵀ’s crucial role in technological advancement and innovation in the field of desalination.
