SETA achève avec succès la mise en service d'une unité d'osmose inverse pour la réutilisation des effluents chez Petrobras

SETA has successfully completed the installation and commissioning of a reverse osmosis water-reuse unit for PETROBRAS at the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc), located in the municipality of Duque de Caxias, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Operating since 1961, the Duque de Caxias refinery is among Brazil’s largest in crude-oil refining capacity. It currently plays a key role in the national industry, accounting for 80% of lubricant production and leading natural-gas processing in the country. As part of its strategy to modernize and optimize water resources, PETROBRAS has implemented a new water-reuse system based on reverse osmosis technology, developed and supplied by SETA.

Recovery rate: 70%
Treatment capacity: 15,000 m³/day of industrial effluents
SETA scope: design, manufacturing, assembly and installation
Benefit: significant salinity reduction and improved water-use efficiency

SETA’s technical team carried out the full assembly of the unit at the refinery, performed operability tests and ensured correct performance. After inspections and final adjustments, the plant was successfully commissioned, operating within the specified design parameters.

SETA continues to strengthen its position as a benchmark in industrial water treatment. Leading companies such as BP, Cepsa and Repsol already rely on its technology to optimize their processes, and now PETROBRAS joins this trend with the addition of the reverse osmosis unit at the Duque de Caxias refinery.
