SETA promotes the North London Heat & Power Project with an advanced water treatment plant

The ambitious project by the North London Waste Authority for the construction of an energy recovery facility is progressing rapidly, and SETAPHT plays a key role by providing an innovative water treatment plant for the production of demineralized water.

The plant is designed to produce a flow rate of 2 x 10 m³/h of high-purity water, intended to supply a steam boiler that utilizes the incineration of non-recyclable municipal waste. This steam is then used for the generation of electricity to supply the population.

The system optimizes resource use through the reuse of pre-treatment water for steam condensation, with a flow rate of 110 m³/h, and the internal treatment of rejects using Ultrafiltration, Nanofiltration, and Reverse Osmosis technologies, allowing for recirculation and significantly reducing discharges.

Thanks to this technology, the plant achieves an overall recovery rate of 90%, reinforcing its commitment to water efficiency and sustainability.

Upon completion of this project, the old Edmonton EcoPark plant, with over 50 years of operation, will be replaced by a modern Energy Recovery Facility (ERF). This new plant will process up to 700,000 tons of waste per year, generating electricity for the national grid and supplying heat to a local district heating network.

With the implementation of this project, SETAPHT reaffirms its leadership in sustainable water treatment solutions, providing advanced technologies that maximize energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
