SETAᴾᴴᵀ commissioned to implement the water treatment project for the CCC El Sauz II, Mexico

The project consists of the supply of a water treatment plant with a flow rate of 2x264 M3/D for the El Sauz II Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCC El Sauz II) in the state of Querétaro, Mexico.

water treatment project

SETAᴾᴴᵀ is working on the construction of a water treatment plant for the El Sauz II Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCC El Sauz II), which will be located at the existing El Sauz thermoelectric power plant, located in the municipality of Pedro Escobedo, state of Querétaro, Mexico. It is expected to occupy a surface area of 51,936 square metres, start operations in March 2024 and have a useful life of 30 years.

The CCC El Sauz II, which belongs to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), aims to increase electricity generation capacity and solve the problem of power shortages in western Mexico. This is why it will operate continuously 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at maximum performance, providing an estimated net capacity of 261 MW.

The scope of SETAᴾᴴᵀ in this project includes the design, materials, manufacture, supply, inspections, workshop tests, painting, packaging, labelling, transport, supervision, commissioning and the necessary documentation for the legalisation of a water treatment and purification plant with a flow rate of 2×264 M3/D.

This plant will have two duly conditioned containers, where the following equipment and services will be incorporated:

  • Raw Water Pretreatment Unit.
  • Demineralised Water Generation Unit.
  • Drinking Water Unit.
  • Industrial Effluent Neutralisation Unit.

In turn, the system will be composed of the following treatment line:

  • Multimedia Filtration.
  • Reverse Osmosis System 1 Step.
  • Drinking water treatment.
  • Reverse Osmosis System 2 Step.
  • Electrodeionisation.

In order to reduce delivery times, shorten assembly times and local building work requirements, the plant is assembled in containers, from which it is operated. In this way, the entire installation leaves the SETAᴾᴴᵀ factory fully tested, considerably facilitating not only the logistics, but also the assembly and commissioning work.

With this project, SETAᴾᴴᵀ is consolidating its position on the Mexican market as a supplier of water treatment solutions, where it is already simultaneously carrying out other projects such as the design and construction of another water treatment plant for the CCC San Luis Potosí, located in the state of San Luis Potosí.
