SETAᴾᴴᵀ has been awarded the design, manufacture and supply of a water treatment plant for the Kelvin Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) waste-to-energy project. With a production capacity of 2×192 cubic metres per day, it is expected to be commissioned within the next year.
Kelvin (ERF) is a waste-to-energy facility planned for Sandwell, West Midlands, Birmingham, a site owned by Giffords Property and strategically located to treat non-recyclable waste from a catchment area with a capacity shortfall of over 2 million tonnes per annum.
With a planned operational capacity of 395,000 tonnes per annum, when operational the facility will run on domestic, commercial and refuse derived fuel (RDF) generating the base renewable energy equivalent to the needs of over 95,000 UK homes.
The construction of the water treatment plant awarded to SETAᴾᴴᵀ will feature the latest technological advances in the water industry, combining the technologies of dual-stage reverse osmosis desalination followed by continuous electro-deionisation, generating high purity demineralised water to the required specifications.
SETAᴾᴴᵀ’s participation in this project extends the international projection of the Spanish water treatment company in the United Kingdom, where it has carried out other projects such as the manufacture of skids for a reversible electrodialysis plant -EDR- located in Lakenheath or a reverse osmosis water treatment plant for Kimberly Clark’s industrial wastewater treatment plant in Northfleet.
